To avoid increased odds at getting a sickly puppy or dog buy from a respected breeder and expect to see health clearances. Visit the puppy too so you can see where they have been bred and have an idea of cleanliness there. If a breeder does not want you to visit this is not a good place to buy from. A Malchi can inherit conditions her parents are prone to which include Patellar luxation, hypoglycemia, heart problems, collapsed trachea, hydrocephalus, open fontanel, liver problems, eye problems, shivering, White dog shaker syndrome and reverse sneezing.
Yes that’s normal. We got our chihuahua puppy when he was 6 weeks old and he wouldn’t hardly drink water. What I found helpful is to either dip your clean finger in water and they will lick it off or get a small ice cube and they will lick it out of your hand. He didn’t really start drinking out of his water bowl for about a week when he felt comfy. Even now I take a travel watEr with me and offer it to him since it’s so hot out. Now he drinks on his own. Hang in there and try these tips. He will come around

I actually have a long hair female Chihuahua, 5 months old. She is a stinker, but we all love her unconditionally, however, she yaps non stop, potty’s everywhere inside. She can be outside 2 hours, come inside and potty. I live on 2 acres. She will not come when I call her name and whenever she sees me, she runs and I just can’t catch her, I finally cave in and say, Polly want a treat? She comes in immediately. I know this is not training. Please offer tips for me, Thanks
Hi yall. I just brought home my 6 week old chi. His name is chewy. He is so funny. I buy him cesar classics. I divide it in 4rs. Give him 1/4 with some water to make it more moist because he doesn’t care for water alone. I have been blessed he goes on a puppy pad and never wines. He does sleep a bit however I wake him and play with him then he eats then sleeps. His first bath scared me . He loved and fell asleep right after. He sleeps through the night. Should I wake him to eat ?
While you can look at the size of your pup's paws and parents to help predict his future weight, this isn't the most accurate method. Just because a puppy has small paws and small parents doesn't necessarily mean he will be small when fully grown. Assuming he's a pure-bred Chihuahua, however, you can typically predict a puppy's adult weight by referring to the growth chart below.
The Malchi is not a purebred dog. It is a cross between the Chihuahua and the Maltese. The best way to determine the temperament of a mixed breed is to look up all breeds in the cross and know you can get any combination of any of the characteristics found in either breed. Not all of these designer hybrid dogs being bred are 50% purebred to 50% purebred. It is very common for breeders to breed multi-generation crosses.
A Malchi puppy could cost between $300 to $1000. She will need blood tests, deworming, shots, spaying, micro chipping, a crate and carrier, collar and leash and food bowls. This comes to a possible extra cost of $360 to $400. We say possible because some breeders may offer some of those things included with the puppy price. Annual costs for medical concerns that are not a medical emergency or ongoing illness, for example for check ups, flea prevention, shots and pet insurance will come to between $435 to $550. Costs each year for other basics such as long hair grooming, license, training, food, treats and toys comes to between $530 to $650.
Putting a bigger dog with a Chihuahua is disgusting and dangerous, most Chi’s struggle to give birth naturally and mega complications because off it, causing Caesareans and deaths. Male dogs should be smaller. End day you have a crossbreed ,which disaster, you will never get same temperaments in each dog of litter&chances are you will have the worst exaggerated trait from at least one of the dogs that been bred together.

WE DO NOT WEAN PUPPIES - only the mama does. Most moms begin weaning between 4-5 weeks and by 6-7 weeks they are normally fully weaned BY THE MAMA. We don't force our mamas to stay with their puppies against their will, once they decide to wean. We feel that they know better than us people do the best way to raise them and the best time to wean. We allow them to make that decision because we feel this is most natural.

Feed your baby Chihuahua four times each day until he is three months old, then decrease it down to three meals, according to Happy Trail Chihuahuas. Ask your vet about wet and dry foods for your dog. Many Chihuahua owners occasionally give their dog wet food to encourage him to put on some pounds. Consult your vet frequently about your dog's dietary needs. Chihuahuas often have problems with lack of appetite, but overfeeding them is hazardous too.

The Maltese is one of the oldest toy sized breeds there are and he can be traced back for at least 2000 years. His exact origins are unclear, some believe he was developed on the Isle of Malta, some in Italy and some from Asia. He was popular amongst royalty across Europe up until the 16th century. Attempts to breed him to squirrel size in the 17th and 18th centuries nearly destroyed the breed. He was saved by mixing with other miniature and toy dogs like the spaniels, and poodles. This in itself led to several new breeds being formed. The Maltese we see today was bred by the English in the late 1800s.

We bought 2 chi sisters when they were 9 weeks old. They weighed 1 lb and the other was 12 oz. The vet didn’t know if she would ever make it to 3 lbs. In a few days they will be 8 months old…the 1 lb female now weights 5 lbs 7 oz (according to chart she should have ended up around 2 1/2 to 3 pounds, the other that weighed just 12 oz. is now 6 lbs. 11 oz. I seen both parents, their mother weighed 4 1/2 pounds, the father was 3 lbs. so you can NEVER go by this chart. It didn’t even come close for our two girls. Admittedly the 6 lb one is overweight…but not by 4 pounds. lol So be prepared to love your puppy no matter how big he or she gets because it may not stay the 2 to 3 pounds you thought it was going to.
